Positive meeting with NRA for road projects

A delegation from the Roads and Transportation SPC had a positive meeting with the National Roads Authority recently, where the NRA gave its commitment to the N5/N26 projects in the county.

At the SPC’s meeting on Monday, chair of the SPC, Councillor Jarlath Munnelly, said that “it was not a negative meeting” with the NRA as there was a commitment given by the roads authority on the N5/N26 projects, however Cllr Munnelly was informed that these projects will depend on budgetary constraints.

Director of services Joe Beirne said that the recent “rattling on about the N5” by the Castlebar and Westport wing of industrialists have points, however the N26 also needs representation and needs to progress as fast as the N5 project. The chair of the SPC said that these groups should meet with the SPC in an informal setting to discuss concerned issues.
