Love is in the air — trapeze artist and tightrope walker fall in love

Ireland's premier family circus, the award-winning Circus Gerbola has been wowing Mayo audiences this week with a powerful display of gravity-defying and hair-raising acrobatics. During the two-hour show appearances by Barney and beautiful trained horses also entertain parents and children, all in all making for a not-to-be-missed performance.

In Mayo until May 30, Circus Gerbola is certain to continue mesmerising local audiences with its host of international and home grown performers. Behind the razzmatazz, the circus also boasts its own love story as directors of the circus, Mikey and Tara Gerbola, both fell in love behind the scenes and are now married, and travel with the circus accompanied by their two children.

Mikey, a tightrope walker, and Tara, a skilled trapeze artist, have created a Big Top which is tastefully decorated with velvet drapes, theatre style seating, and creative lighting all aimed at providing a new, vibrant, intimate circus experience. To experience the circus yourself, go to the last few shows this weekend taking place in Castlebar opposite Milebush Park, Ballinrobe Road, on Saturday May 29 and Sunday May 30 at 2.30pm and 5pm.
