After playing Glastonbury and Electric Picnic last year its now Castlebar’s turn to get a “Boom Boom” as Imelda May belts out some of her addictive tunes including “Big Bad Handsome Man”, “Falling in Love with you again”, and “Johnny got a Boom Boom” The sensational Imelda May comes to the Royal Theatre on Friday June 4. Having received the award for Best Irish Female last year she then performed at the Meteor Music Awards, firmly placing her in the hearts of music lovers.
Imelda May will open up the Guinness Blues Festival 2010 in The Royal Theatre Castlebar where the full weekend will be filled with the best of blues, live music will be in many of the main bars in town with Willie Nelson playing the Royal Theatre on the Saturday night and Status Quo on the Sunday Bank Holiday night.
Imelda is a fan of Elvis, Eddie Cochran, and Gene Vincent but it was an album from Billie Holiday that blew her mind. Her music has developed into a jazzier rockabilly style which is now loved by the likes of Jools Holland and Beck.
