Mayo ACs golden couple Mc Hugh and Conway first home in Craughwell

In the second race of the Galway 5km series held in Craughwell, husband and wife team TJ McHugh and Catherine Conway finished first in the men’s and women’s race. TJ finished in first place with a time of 16.25, just ahead of Timmy Glavey also of Mayo AC with Jason Broderick of Craughwell AC back in third. In the ladies’ race Catherine finished well ahead of Stephine Fahy from Tuam in second place.

In the Tooreen 10k Mayo AC’s Andrew Lynskey finished in second place behind Jonathan Patton in a time of 36.53, with Francis Cryan also of Mayo AC in third place who finished in a time of 37.18.

Ann Murray of Mayo AC won the ladies’ event in a time of 45.12, with fellow Mayo athlete Anne Fahy Ronane in third place in a time of 49.12. Tom Hunt who finished in an excellent fifth place in a time of 40.34, Hugh Duffy finished in 41.04, Jimmy Feeney finished in 41.27 with Breege Staunton returning to running after a break of 15 months to finish in a brilliant time of 53.36.

Andrew and PJ conquer the Reek

In the recent IMRA Irish Mountain Running Association race on May 1 where athletes are timed to run up and down the reek and are timed accordingly, two Mayo AC Athletes featured very strongly. The race involved climbing and descending Croagh Patrick starting at Murrisk and finishing at Murrisk. Mayo AC ‘super’ athletes Andrew Lynskey and P.J. Hall finished in remarkable times. PJ Hall finished in a time of 65 minutes and 26 seconds for the round trip while Andrew finished in 60 minutes and 40 seconds for the round trip.
