St Patrick’s Drama Group is back

Audiences far and near are in for a real treat with St Patrick’s Drama Groups’ production of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh.

This play is based around a real event, the filming in nearby Inishmor of The Man Of Aran in 1934. The young inhabitants of Inishmaan see an opportunity to escape the tedium of their daily life, and maybe ‘get into the filming’. However McDonagh is the master of the convoluted yarn, and his intimate style fortunes and certainties are turned on their head, as frequently as the road turns and twists in the lovely Inishmaan. Superbly directed by Seamus McNally, this is a definite must see. There is use of strong language but this was part of their daily lives on Inishmaan. The play will take to the stage tonight April 30 and from next Wednesday night May 5 to Saturday May 8 in Scoil Phadraig, Altamont Street, Westport. Curtain call is at 8.30pm each evening. Tickets are available from the box office which can be contacted on 086 8609981.
