World Asthma Day 2010 takes place on Tuesday May 4 and to raise awareness of the management of asthma, an information stand will be set up in the main foyer of Mayo General Hospital from 11am to 3pm.
Healthcare professionals will be on hand to answer questions from members of the public and provide relevant information to help reduce the burden of asthma.
“For asthma treatment to be successful, it is important to learn all you can about asthma and asthma treatment,” said Ursula Clarke, respiratory nurse specialist at Mayo General Hospital, who will be in attendance on the day. “Asthma sufferers should be familiar with their medications and the devices used to administer them, recognise the warning signs of an asthma exacerbation, be aware of triggers and how to avoid them, and have knowledge of other topics specific to their health needs that are critical to good asthma management.”
