On Saturday April 17 at Balla Mart there was the usual sale but with no weanlings present as they are being sold on Tuesday evenings.
There were 1,200 lots on offer on Saturday and on Tuesday evening there were 800 weanlings on offer at the special U and R grade weanling sale.
Prices were up €20 to €40 on last week for the bullocks, and heifers were similar prices to last week. Demand was brisk from the many buyers in attendance as there were more farmers buying. Weanlings were up by €20 approximately on the sale last week.
Bullocks averaged from €147.51 to €184.43 per 100kg while heifers were making €160.29 to €167.84 per 100kg.
Bull weanlings averaged from €169.70 to €184.02 and heifer weanlings made from €161.22 to €183.27.
There were some exceptional prices paid, in particular a 410kg CH suitable for breeding got €1,400 and the lighter types of weanlings were a better trade.

There were 126 cows on offer and one made €1,380.
Saturday next, April 24, will be the next sale. Also Saturday next a special suck calf sale will commence at 11am in ring three and every Saturday thereafter.
