Jail for man who caused criminal damage at two Garda stations

A man who was arrested for throwing a stone through a garda station window and when released damaged more garda property was sentenced to prison at this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.

On March 25 this year at 11.55am a witness observed Finbarr Mannley, Sinolane, Kilmovee, Kilkelly, throw a stone through the window of Kiltimagh Garda station, which broke a pane of glass to the value of €100. Gardaí were called and the defendant was located on the Balla Road and brought to Claremorris Garda station. At 1.50pm when released from the Garda station, Mannley pulled an electronic keypad from the Garda station wall — this key pad allowed access to a secure Garda parking. The value of the damage caused was more than €300.

The 21-year-old, who has one previous conviction, was convicted and sentenced to 28 days in prison by Jugde Mary Devins, for the section two criminal damage at Kiltimagh and he was also sentenced to 28 days in prison consecutive for the criminal damage in Claremorris.
