Expert’s agendas unveiled for Enniscrone GAA event

With less than week to go to the GAA Coaching and Team Performance seminar taking place in Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone, now is the time to reserve your ticket. Interest in the event is already very high from local and regional clubs and individuals. The excellent line up of speakers including Mickey Harte, Martin Carney, Mick Galway, Darragh Ó Sé, Mickey McGeehin, and John Maughan is a first for Connacht.

Mickey Harte will speak about his long career as a manager, his successful All Ireland teams and how he motivates teams to get back to the top, time after time. He will also address how he deals with personalities within his squad, how he manages fringe players, how he deals with demanding supporters and the critical role of coaching underage minors and u-21s. Martin Carney, MC for the night, will say a few words about his current involvement in inter county as a team analyst and statistician and the importance of it in today’s game. He will also give his views on the role of the media in modern football and how best to communicate with the various media channels.

Mick Galway will speak about his illustrious rugby career and touch on his GAA playing days. He will address mental toughness, how to get your head in the right zone, discipline on the field in GAA and rugby, and his thoughts on what the GAA could learn from rugby. Dara Ó Sé will speak about his long and tremendous career. He will outline the different styles of the various managers he has played under, how he remained hungry for success, the pressure of “celebrity status”, the commitment required from inter county players and how they juggle their work, home and football lives. Micky Mc Geehan will address physical training in general, how to prepare club teams, the different types of training variations as well as frequency and intensity.

John Maughan will speak about his experience of management at inter county level but especially at club level.  He will outline what it takes to manage a successful club to a high level, how he deals with “man management”, discipline and how he keeps fringe players motivated. He will give his thoughts on how to gel players, club versus county and how he “keeps it fresh” throughout the year. He will also deal with how to break from a losing cycle and how teams recover from losing – the psychological battle.

It’s a great opportunity to come face to face with these legends. Not only that, but with a lengthy question and answer session scheduled, participants will have the chance to ask advice directly from these leading experts. Organised by Enniscrone Kilglass GAA, this is an important fundraiser to support coaching in local schools.
