Mayo Ladies on lookout for new management again

The Mayo ladies senior footballers are on the look out for a new management team once again following the resignation of Pat Costello and his selection team on Monday night. Costello only took over the role before the start of this year’s National Football League campaign which saw Mayo win three of their seven games and losing four.

Costello who is also the manager of the Mayo ladies’ u14 side took over the post from, from Kevin Reidy who resigned from the post in January of this year after leading Mayo to National League final and the All Ireland semi-final in 2009. There has been a revolving door of managers through the Mayo senior ladies set up over the past number of years with four different men taking charge of the side for the past four years. In 2007, Frank Browne took Mayo to the All Ireland final before he was dropped as manager, he was followed by Michael Ryder who also did not last long, he in turn was followed by Reidy and now Costello.

Mayo are now on the lookout for their fifth manager in four years as the start of the Connacht championship looms large on the horizon in eight weeks where they are down to take on Sligo on Saturday June 19 in Fr O’Hara Park in Charlestown.
