A 20-year-old intoxicated man who was observed fighting with another man and who tried to push past a garda, was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.
On September 12 2009 at 3.05pm while on patrol on the Tone Street/Pearse Street corner, Garda Andrew O’Hora observed Daniel Crane, 145 Greenhills Estate, Ballina, and another male fighting in the street. Garda O’Hora stood between the men to stop the fight and Crane attempted to push past the garda and shouted and roared to the other man, “I will get you again”.
According to solicitor John Gordon Crane acted in such a manner as his twin brother was injured earlier that night.
The defendant, who has no previous convictions, was directed by Judge Mary Devins to contribute €150 to the Special Olympics.
