A man who threatened to slit the throats of car occupants following a vehicle incident appeared before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.
On July 29 2009 at 1.20am a car driven by Robert Cording, 19 Oaklawns, Ballina, which had no lights on, suddenly pulled out in front of Mr Jeffrey Thornton on Ridgepool Road, Ballina. Both cars were forced to break suddenly.
Cording jumped out of the car and engaged in threatening behaviour towards Mr Thornton and his passengers. The defendant said to Mr Thornton “not to flash your f***ing lights at me”, “I will split your face” and “slit your throats”.
Cording, who has previous convictions, including a suspended sentenced, was remanded by Judge Mary Devins to Tubbercurry District Court, where this sentence was imposed, for the next sitting on April 28.
