A call is out from local heart charity Croí to women throughout the west of Ireland to get their runners out and take a heart healthy challenge this summer by participating in the women's mini marathon in Castlebar or Dublin.
More women die each year from heart disease than from breast cancer, accounting for more than 2,500 deaths in Ireland annually. Not many women are aware of this shocking fact says Croí, which is trying to raise levels of awareness of the risk factors for heart disease among women. Croí, which is dedicated to preventing these unnecessary deaths, is now calling on women of all ages and abilities to run, walk, or crawl to raise vital funds and help save the lives of women in the west.
This year Croí is offering two exciting, fun filled, 10km events for women to choose from, the inaugural West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon which takes place in Castlebar on Sunday May 2 or the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon which takes place in Dublin on Bank Holiday Monday June 7.
So get active and help Croí in the fight against heart disease. For your entry pack call Sarah-Jane now on 091 544331 or email [email protected] or log on to www.croi.ie for further details.
