Belmullet woman failed to stop for gardaí

A married mother of four, who failed to stop for garda and when arrested on the suspicion of drink driving failed to provide a sample, was disqualified from driving for four years at this week’s sitting of Belmullet District Court.

On August 29 2009 at 4.55pm in Bangor Erris, gardaí signalled for Bridget Deane, Aughascavill, Bangor Erris, to stop her car, however she failed to do so and was followed as far as Church Road.

The defendant was arrested on the suspicion of drink driving, however Deane refused to provide a sample.

The court heard that the middle aged woman, who has no previous convictions, was on medication at the time that she was stopped.

Judge Seamus Hughes convicted and fined Deane €50 and disqualified her for four years.
