Support for Crossmolina and Foxford speed limit extensions

Minister of State Dara Calleary has lent his support to the request to extend the speed limit zone beyond the entrance to the Gortnor Abbey entrance in Crossmolina and beyond the entrance to O’Hara’s Bakery in Foxford.

The extension in Crossmolina would aid a looped walking route that takes in the grounds of Jesus and Mary Secondary School before emerging onto the N59 Ballina Road.

In Foxford the proposed speed limit extension would take in the busy entrance to the Texoil Service Station and O’Hara’s Bakery.

“I strongly support the proposed extension to the speed limits in both Crossmolina and Foxford and will bring both proposals to the attention of Minister Dempsey when he visits the constituency on Friday.

“I am aware that Mayo County Council have already made this proposal to the National Roads Authority and expect a response by mid-summer. I will work with the council to ensure that a positive response is achieved. Both of these proposed speed extensions will provide added safety measures in two extremely busy areas and would be most welcome additions to both towns,” said Minister Calleary.
