It was announced this week that two counselling services in Mayo will receive €210,000 between them from the Government. The Knock Counselling Service will get €120,000 and Family Life Services will receive €90,000 as part of an overall €8 million national grant allocated by Minister for Social and Family Affairs Éamon Ó Cuív.
The Knock Counselling Service offers therapeutic support to people who experience a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self esteem, bereavement issues, relationship issues, and issues associated with abuse or neglect. Family Life Services Mayo specialises in marital and relationship problems, including intra family relationships, separation, domestic violence and bereavement.
“These grants demonstrate the Government’s continued commitment to offering practical assistance to families and individuals at particularly stressful periods in their lives,” Minister Ó Cuív said. “The funding will help counselling services to continue to carry out their crucial work.”
