Gardaí have confirmed that there was no suspicious circumstances in the death of a man whose body was found in the Swinford area.
The body of the man, who was in his 70s, was found in a boghole following a search by locals for the man, who was missing for a number of days previously. Gardaí also said that the man’s identity wasn’t being released at the time of going to print as they were trying to contact his next of kin who live outside the jurisdiction.
Bank holiday arrests
There were three drink driving arrests in Mayo over the bank holiday weekend. Gardaí in the Charlestown area arrested two people, while there was one person arrested in the Castlebar area. There was also 17 arrests for public order offences across the county over the bank holiday period.
Arrests following Ballinrobe break in
Gardaí in Ballinrobe arrested three men who broke into a business on New Street, Ballinrobe, in the early hours of last Monday night. The gardaí were alerted to the incident at 4.30am and arrested the men shortly after and recovered the property.
