Main Street refurbishment works commence at last

Work to the Main Street section of Castlebar’s long-awaited town centre refurbishment project is set to commence next week.

The project, which is being carried out by Kilcross Contractors, is expected to be finished this year and will give a badly-needed facelift to Castlebar’s traditional town centre.

The enhancement works will commence at the Mall side of Main Street and local traders were updated on the project at a meeting in Lough Lannagh Holiday Village yesterday (Thursday ) morning.

Mayor of Castlebar, Cllr Michael Kilcoyne, who attended that meeting, has welcomed the commencement of the project and said he hopes it will cause as little disruption to business as possible. He said the project was part of the town council’s commitment to the town.

The project is being funded by Castlebar Town Council and Mayo County Council and is supported by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce.
