Aer Arann recommence flights on Knock-Dublin route

Aer Arann—Ireland’s regional airline—re-launched its daily return flights from Ireland West Airport Knock to Dublin on Wednesday, with an early morning flight and return evening flight available on the Public Service Obligation (PSO ) service.

Speaking at Ireland West Knock having arrived on the first evening flight from Dublin, Aer Arann Commercial Director Fergal Barry expressed the airline’s delight with the resumption of the PSO route to Dublin. “When we took over this route three years ago we worked to build it up and as a consequence we developed a very loyal customer base in the area—we were very disappointed not to be awarded the route in the recent Government tender, but we are delighted that as the second ranked bidder in the tender process we have now been awarded the route and we aim to re-establish ourselves quickly by offering a quality service and low fares.”

Mr Barry outlined that the service will offer “30 minute check-in, allocated seating, a free newspaper on board and of course no charge for checked in bags.”

Robert Grealis, Chief Executive of Ireland West Airport Knock also congratulated Aer Arann on being awarded the contract and commented that the recommencement of the Dublin service “comes as a relief” to many tourism and business providers in the region “who rely heavily on this service” and for the continued economic and social development of the region.
