The Board of the Mayo Sports Partnership will shortly announce details of its upcoming Special Participation Grant Scheme for 2010.
This scheme invites clubs, organisations, and community groups to submit participation proposals which would target increasing participation amongst target groups such as children, disadvantaged, women, the Travelling community, older people, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities. This would include the setting up of new clubs or additional activities which would increase participation within organisations.
Initiatives which received funding under last year’s scheme included an outdoor pursuits initiative in the Charlestown area, a new basketball club in Ballycastle and start up assistance to Mayo Shore Angling Club. A limited amount of funding will be available to projects which are additional in nature. The Mayo Sports Partnership board will decide on all successful applications and its recommendations are final.
