Funding boost for health services in Ballinrobe

Mayo Fianna Fáil TD and member of the Joint Oireachtas Health Committee, Deputy Beverley Flynn has confirmed significant investment for health services in Clár areas of County Mayo.

Funding for a new ambulance for the Order of Malta in Ballinrobe and an extension for the Ballindine Health Centre is being provided by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the Health Service Executive, according to Dep Flynn.

“This funding confirmation from my colleague Minister Eamon Ó Cuív and the HSE is a very welcome boost to the Ballindine Health Centre and the Order of Malta in Ballinrobe. Some €400,000 has been sanctioned for a three-room extension at the Ballindine Health Centre with €133,333 being provided by Clár and €666,666 by the HSE.

“The Ballinrobe Order of Malta is one of five voluntary ambulance services nationally which are to receive 80 per cent funding for a new vehicle at a total cost of more than €404,000,” added Dep Flynn who said it was a very welcome boost for both Ballindine and Ballinrobe.

“In particular I would like to commend the volunteers at the Ballinrobe Order of Malta. The organisation is a good example of what can be achieved when communities, voluntary organisations and the State work together to provide services. The extension at the Ballindine Health Centre will also help more people in the larger community to receive medical attention in their own community. This is part of the Government’s focus to continue developing primary care centres in community settings,” she concluded.
