Mayo man Laurence Murphy will battle it out this Saturday in Dublin at the Red Bull Street Style Irish qualifier event for his chance to represent Ireland at the world finals in Brazil in November.
Red Bull Street Style is offering an international platform for the world’s most talented ball artists to test their skills against each other. The ultimate showdown is set for Brazil, where the freestylers who advanced from respective national battles in more than 40 national contests will meet in the world finals.
If Laurence progresses to the finals he will have to adhere to the rules of battling one other for three minutes with one ball. The two players will take alternating 20 second turns with the ball, using their time to show off the best of their artistic moves to the sounds of breakdance and hip hop music. In the finals, the judges will evaluate the three minutes’ flow based on control, creativity and style.
