On Saturday March 27 visit 18th century Westport House and its adjoining Pirate Adventure Park as part of its open day where kids go free!
Designed by Richard Cassels, Westport House was built in 1730 by the Browne family on the site of one of Grace O’Malley’s 16th century castles. Westport House is now considered to be one of Ireland’s national treasures. Complete with magnificent architecture, original furniture, and paintings, Westport House creates a living documentation of 500 years of history. With 30 rooms on show, three comprehensive exhibitions, the dungeons and the original old kitchen, you can experience culture, fun and adventure for all members of the family.
In 2009, the newly branded Pirate Adventure Park was located on the surrounding grounds offering The Pirates Den (indoor soft play area ); Cannon Ball Run (slippery dip ), giant swan pedaloes on the lake, The Westport House Express (miniature railway ), Gracy’s Castle (bouncy castle ), pitch and putt, pirates’ plunge (log flume ride ) and The Pirate Queen (ship’s galleon ).
Great value family day tickets will be available on the open day and if you arrive before 11 am you can avail of a further 10 per cent discount.
