The theme for the parade in Westport is Travel Smart – The Westport Way. The parade will commence at 3.30pm and the Grand Marshall will be the legendary Irish cyclist Sean Kelly.
Generous prizes will be awarded to the best school entry, best voluntary group, best commercial group, and the overall winner. Once again Gnó Mhaigh Eo in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Flota is Fearr competition and the winning entry will receive a prize of €500. This year the parade also includes a bike in style competition for the most travel trendy, stylish, and fashionable cyclist. Those who want to take part should contact 098 50400.
The Belmullet St Patrick's Day Committee will also award prizes for the following categories: best school entrant; best non school entrant; most artistic entrant/float; most humorous entrant/float; best shop/business display; and best residential display.
