A Czech man who turned his car upside down on a road while he was driving intoxicated, was disqualified from driving for two years at this week’s sitting of Ballyhaunis District Court.
On October 4 2009 at 2.15am, Garda David Donnelly responded to a road traffic accident at Brickens, Claremorris where he observed a car upside down in the middle of the road blocking traffic. Garda Donnelly was informed that a person who lived nearby brought in the driver of the car to his house and the garda then spoke with Patrick Gabor, 8 Cuirt na Ciarraidhe, James Street, Claremorris.
The defendant admitted that he lost control of his car and Garda Donnelly arrested him on suspicion of drink driving. A subsequent urine sample showed 145mg of alcohol per 100ml of urine.
The 30-year-old father of three, who has previous road traffic convictions, has been in Ireland for 10 years and is currently unemployed.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Gabor €700 and disqualified him from driving for two years.
