Mayo AC 2009 Road League winner Gerry Ryan (GCH ) was first home in the Kilconieron five mile race on Sunday. All money raised went to the Alan Kerins Africa Appeal. Fionnuala Keane (Loughrea AC ) was first woman finisher in 31.38. Paddy O'Toole was first Mayo AC man in fifth place in 28.57, followed by Dave Huane in 11th place in 31.19 and Christy O'Malley, who finished in a time of 35.48. The beginning of spring on the local athletics calendar is usually heralded by the Tubbercurry 10k on St Patrick's Day. 2010 marks the 38th running of this popular event hosted by South Sligo AC.
