Courses in CSCS signing, lighting, and guarding for roadwork’s, CSCS detection of underground services, and CSCS health and safety at roadworks for operatives working on roads are now taking place in the west of Ireland.
CSCS cards are mandatory since June 2009 under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction ) Regulations. It is compulsory training for those operatives working on roadworks and those involved in detection and avoidance of underground services.
The three day signing, lighting, and guarding for roadworks course is suitable for managers, supervisors, and operators who are required to plan, organise, direct, control, and manage the safe free flow of traffic through road works in rural and urban situations. Course content includes traffic management applications, layouts, safe system of installation, classroom, and outdoor practical work.
There is also a one day CSCS health and safety at roadworks for operatives working on roads. This allows participants to maintain signing, lighting, and guarding at roadworks.
All those involved in detection and avoidance of underground services should attend the two day CSCS detection of underground services. The course is designed to make participants aware of the dangers involved in excavating. It will also train delegates in the use of cable detection equipment and to detect and avoid most buried services. Course content includes safe work practices, locate, and detection equipment, maintenance and storage of equipment, and safe digging techniques.
