The countdown is well and truly on to one of the biggest nights of the year. On Friday, March 5 The TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar will host an event that’s sure to entertain, enthral and excite, while also raising much-needed funds for the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. The Spar in Castlebar will pit well-known locals against one another in an evening of white-collar boxing that’ll push back the boundaries of fun and fund-raising.
Tickets are selling strongly for the event and it’s little wonder when one sees the quality of men who’ll be stepping between the ropes on the night. Politicians, sports people, publicans, vets, architects, politicians, health care workers, farmers, bar managers, solicitors, and electricians can be found among the many willing volunteers who will be putting their pugilistic expertise on the line at the event.
The willing warriors have been training diligently under the expert tutelage of world champion Ray Moylette with Peter, Paul, Gary and Michael at the Pete Callaghan Centre in Westport for the past five weeks and they’ll be raring to go when the big night comes around. The event will raise much-needed funds for the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association and local organiser Marian Irwin is delighted with the ticket sales so far, while also looking forward to the action on the night itself.
“It’ll be great fun and raise money for a great cause. We’re hoping that a huge crowd will turn out and I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember,” she added. Tickets for the event are available at the TF Royal or by logging on to www.theroyal.ie
