Gardaí to clamp down on double parked taxis

Superintendent Willie Keaveney gave an undertaking to deal with the issue of double parked taxis in Castlebar at a meeting of the joint policing committee for the town.

Mayor Michael Kilcoyne brought up the issue. “In relation to Main Street, the taxis park everywhere, in the middle of the road, they must think there’s an extra lane,” he said. “And on Linenhall Street at night they are parking on the corner and it’s not fair on the rest of the people.” Supt Keaveney told the meeting: “I’ll get my PSV (public service vehicle ) sergeant to spend a night on the street to deal with the issue.”
