A 53-year-old, married father of six who, after climbing the Reek, went for a few beers and then drove back to Ballina, was disqualified from driving at Ballina District Court on Tuesday.
Garda Andrew O’Hara observed Joseph Lawrence, 1 Teeling Street, Ballina drive into Diamonds Yard Car Park in the wrong lane on July 27 2009 at 3.05am. Lawrence failed a roadside breath test and later provided a urine sample which showed 259mg of alcohol per 100ml of urine.
The man, who is in receipt of disability allowance, was convicted and fined €600 and disqualified from driving for three years.
