The Mayo senior hurlers failed to get their NHL Division 3A campaign under way last Sunday, after the pitch in Crossmaglen was deemed unplayable after an overnight fall of snow. The Mayo management of Martin Brennan and Pete Finnerty left no stone unturned in their preparation for the tie, having travelled up to Armagh on the Saturday evening before the game. The travelling party were very disappointed that no game was played on Sunday, after completing a 330 mile round trip to the North.
Croke Park officers, on the advice of the Armagh County Board postponed the tie, after officials failed to find an alternative playable venue. The tie is expected to be rescheduled on the weekend of March 6/7 or April 3/4, which are the only weekends available ahead of the NHL Division 3 final. The tie will be rescheduled for an Armagh venue. Mayo will now open their national league account for 2010 at home to Kerry on Sunday, February 28 at 2.30pm.
