The legal argument which prevented Achill Coast Guard from occupying a new facility on the island has finally been resolved.
The dispute between the Mayo County Council and the Chief State Solicitor’s Office was settled this week clearing the way for the Achill Coast Guard to access the joint coast guard and fire brigade rescue centre on the island by the end of the month.
Deputy Michael Ring has welcomed the news: “I am truly delighted that this dispute has been resolved in a positive manner to the benefit of the Achill Coast Guard. They are now hopeful of occupying the new purpose built facility shortly.”
Dep Ring, who said the coast guard carried out “wonderful work” wished them well in their new facility.
