Minister for Labour Affairs Dara Calleary TD has confirmed that three Mayo groups have been allocated funding under the Government’s Community Support for Older People Scheme.
The groups to benefit in this round of funding are Ardagh Development Group - €5,318, Kilmovee Urlar Community Alert - €295, and Pobail Ar Aire, Tuar Mhic Eadaigh - €2,530.
Minister Calleary welcomed the funding and commended the groups for the work they do in their local communities.
“The funding allocated under the Government’s Scheme of Community Support for Older People is used by voluntary community groups who work with older people.
“The funding will help to pay for small security measures including a contribution towards the cost of installing monitored personal alarm systems, the cost of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, external security lighting, and other small items like locks,” Minister Calleary concluded.
