Business breakfast finds favour in Mayo

County Mayo businesses received a welcome boost last Monday at a special event organised by Business Network International (BNI ) to celebrate International Networking Week.

More than 150 local business people attended BNI’s Big Breakfast 2010 at the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh, to hear commercial guru and motivational speaker Rob Brown spell out 140 ways to stand out from the competition and beat the recession. In addition to key ideas on business growth, all who attended received one of BNI’s pocket guides – How to Build Your Personal Reputation – penned by Rob Brown.

Ballina consulting engineer Kevin Martin said the event was the most worthwhile he had ever attended. “I was amazed at the positive ideas coming out of the session,” he said. “I’d never realised the potential impact of a few simple techniques – and it was fantastic to meet so many other local businesses and share contacts.”

BNI’s area director, Derek Reilly, hailed the event as a resounding success. “We had a tremendous response and the Big Breakfast this year was clearly the biggest business event around,” he said. “Rob really enthused the audience and as well as plenty of participation there was a good deal of networking, which really demonstrates the ethos and success of BNI membership. It’s never been more important for businesses to use every opportunity and we’re pleased to have staged such a successful event to help local businesses to succeed.”
