Additional teaching posts have been allocated to three schools in County Mayo, according to Fianna Fáil TD Beverley Flynn.
The schools are Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Padraig in Castlebar; Scoil Náisiúnta Brighde, Tuirin, Béal Átha Hamhnais; and Craggagh National School in Kiltimagh.
The news was confirmed to Deputy Flynn by her colleague Batt O'Keeffe Minister for Education and Science.
“In the renewed programme for government, a commitment was made to allocate teachers to schools that had lost out on a teaching post because their enrolment numbers were one, two, or three students short of the qualifying number.
“I am delighted that three schools in Mayo have qualified. I know the news will be welcomed by the schools’ boards of management. The additional post allocation will help them meet the demands of the increased enrolments,” concluded Dep Flynn.
