Erris native is new State solicitor

Judge Seamus Hughes’ replacement as the Mayo State solicitor has finally been announced. Bangor Erris native Vincent Deane will take up the post in the coming weeks once he relocates to his native county.

Mr Deane, who is currently in the process of winding down his position as senior prosecution solicitor in the DPP’s office, an office where he has worked for the past eight years and previous to that worked in the office of the chief State solicitor, told the Mayo Advertiser that he “is delighted for this opportunity” and is looking forward to returning to Mayo, where he hopes to set up his practice in Castlebar.

Mr Deane is brother of Padraic Deane, who is the motoring correspondent for the Advertiser group’s five papers.
