A Ballinrobe man who refused to obey a Garda instruction was convicted and fined €100 for a public order offence at Ballinrobe District Court last week.
Garda Aidan Connaughton told the court that on December 28 2008 he was on duty in the patrol car in Ballinrobe when he got a call to go to a domestic disturbance in a housing estate in the town. When he got to the estate he found Michael J Walsh, 2 Slí na Roba, Ballinrobe, having an argument with his partner outside their home. Garda Connaughton told the court that there was a strong smell of alcohol from Walsh and he ordered him to go inside the house, but his partner did not want him to go inside, so he then ordered Walsh to leave the area which he did not do. Garda Connaughton then arrested Walsh and brought him to the station.
