Crossmolina man who had cannabis to pay into Haiti fund

A Crossmolina man who was observed dropping cannabis resin from his pocket was before Ballina District Court this week for a possession of drugs charge.

Sergeant James Murphy saw a number of youths go to the river bank in Crossmolina on May 16 2009, where Thomas Irwin, 48 Abbeytown, Crossmolina, was observed dropping an object from the pocket of his top to the ground. The small brown substance was sent for analysis and the results showed that it was €5 worth of cannabis resin.

Irwin (18 ), who has no previous convictions, was directed by Judge Mary Devins to contribute €100 to the Haiti fund.
