Funding of €36,000 for Castlebar Voluntary Social Services based at Castle Street car park has been welcomed by the Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny TD. The funding has been issued by the Department of Health and Children as part of their 2009 allocation from National Lottery funds. The funding has been issued to aid in refurbishment work at the social services centre which provides numerous important services around the wider Castlebar area.
Deputy Kenny said: “I welcome the decision to approve this funding for Castlebar Voluntary Social Services and hope that it will make a huge difference to the work they carry out. The centre provides services such as Meals on Wheels and elderly support services as well as community use of the facilities at their centre in Castle Street car park. I pay tribute to their work and have no doubt that this funding will improve the facilities available in the centre.”
