At the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, there is a competition for primary and post primary students to design a T-shirt using the National Museum of Ireland — Country Life as inspiration.
Entry forms are available on the museum website www.museum.ie and the deadline is Friday February 12 2010.
Events taking place in the museum: come along to Connacht Textile Crafters – Knitting Socks in Different Ways from 11am to 4pm on Saturday January 30.
A St Brigid’s Girdle workshop will take place on Sunday January 31 from 2.30pm to 4pm.
A study day for Leaving Certificate art students in association with the National Gallery of Ireland will take place on Saturday January 30 from 10am to 1pm.
This slideshow and talk for students and teachers draws on images from the National Collection and covers the following topics: The Renaissance, impressionism to abstraction, and early modern Irish art.
