A man who, when intoxicated, decided to knock on a door of an acquaintance, was before Castlebar District Court this week.
Garda Brian McGuire received a report at 2am on January 20 2010 that Martin Heffernan, Belderrig Mór, Belderrig, Ballina, was causing a nuisance outside a house in Pontoon where he was knocking on a door and shouting. Heffernan was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under section four of the Public Order Act.
Heffernan told the court that the people in the house “were mates of mine” and that “I can carry my beer... that’s my case”. The unemployed man was convicted and fined €50 by Judge Mary Devins.
