Answer your county’s call in Rehab pub quiz

Those who thought that the lifting of Sam Maguire was the signal to finally put away the county colours for another year would be very much mistaken. With the launch of the National Rehab/Powers Whiskey Pub Quiz in association with the Vintners Federation of Ireland, there is still one more chance for Mayo to be crowned All-Ireland champions and you can even be a part of the glory.

Trivia experts in Mayo are being asked to answer their county’s call and register a team for one of the quiz nights taking place between Monday October 6 and Sunday October 19.

As part of the initiative, pub quiz nights are scheduled to take place in some 325 participating VFI pubs throughout the country. All proceeds from the nights will go towards the further development of Rehab services nationwide.

The winning team from each pub will progress to a county final on Friday November 7 to compete for the honour of representing Mayo in the national final on Tuesday November 21 at the Shamrock Lodge, Athlone. Legendary GAA commentator Micheál O’Muircheartaigh will feature as special guest quizmaster for the national final and what All-Ireland would be complete without his commentary on proceedings?

Each quiz will consist of ten rounds of six questions covering topics including general knowledge, history, sport, TV and film, music and current affairs. All participants must be over 18 years of age.

All proceeds from the National Rehab/Powers Whiskey Pub Quiz will help various activities of the Rehab Group, an independent, not-for-profit organisation which provides health and social care, training and education, and rehabilitation, employment and commercial services for some 56,000 people each year in Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands and Poland.
