Mayo stages moves home for 2010

The Mayo and District Motorsport Club have announced that the Mayo Stages Rally will be based in Claremorris for 2010. It’s all new this year as the rally moves from it old base in Castlebar to the fabulous McWilliam Park Hotel. The McWilliam Park will be title sponsor and rally headquarters for this year’s event.

, providing excellent facilities for the club and rally.

With less than two months to go to the running of the 2010 Mayo Stages Rally, preparations are in full swing for this popular event which takes place this year on Sunday March 13. Once again the Mayo Stages hosts the second rounds of both the Dunlop National Rally Championship and the Hass Border Rally Championship. In addition this year competitors on the Irish 205 Challenge will be taking on the challenging Mayo roads so there is certain to be plenty of competition.

Eamon Walsh from Claremorris is the new Clerk of the Course for 2010. Eamon and his team have picked out three new challenging stages for the competitors. He would like to thank all of the residents on the stages for their cooperation and the Garda Síochána and Mayo County Council for their continued support. The event will be officially launched on Monday January 28 with a function at the McWilliam Park Hotel.
