Fine Gael Spokesperson on Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Deputy Michael Ring has demanded that the drop in property prices should be reflected in the valuation of local authority houses.
Deputy Ring stated: “I am asking that when local authorities are getting their houses valued that this would be reflected and that the houses would show a drop in property prices. For so long, house prices were rising at a very rapid rate. For the last year to year and a half, this has not been the case.
“Prices have actually decreased and in some places quite substantially. There are a lot of houses for sale in the county and it is only right that local authority dwellings should be properly priced to show the true market price,” concluded Dep Ring.
