Mayo man elected president of business confederation

Pat O’Donnell, Managing Director of Allergan Pharmaceuticals, has been elected President of the Irish Business and Employers Confederation, west region, for the term 2008-2010.

Mr O’Donnell takes over the presidency from Maureen O’Malley of Baxter Healthcare. Pat has been Vice President and Managing Director of Allergan Pharmaceuticals Ireland since January 2006.

Allergan Pharmaceuticals Ireland comprises a manufacturing facility in Westport, employing over 800 people. The company employs an additional 70 staff in a Eurocentre office in Dublin, which manages the regional supply chain function for Europe, Africa and the Middle -East region. Pat is a member of the global technical operations team and a member of the European management team.

Pat has been with the company since 1980 and has held a number of senior positions in quality assurance and operations. Originally from Mayo, Pat spent two years working at Allergan’s corporate headquarters in Irvine, California as a manager in the worldwide manufacturing support group. He returned to Westport in 1993 to take the position of quality assurance manager. Pat is an active member of Pharma Chemical Ireland.
