Councillor Joe Mellett, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, has strongly condemned the actions of those who did “wanton damage” to a number of cars and business premises in Swinford last weekend.
“It is more than likely that the culprits were on foot. Any person who has the slightest suspicion is asked to contact the Swinford Gardaí,” said the irate councillor.
He added that this type of anti-social behaviour must be swiftly dealt with and he asked the local gardaí to put more personnel on foot patrol in the town.
