The extension of mortgage relief in the Budget has been welcomed by the Fine Gael spokesperson on community, rural and Gaeltacht affairs, Deputy Michael Ring, as a “positive move” to assist those caught in the property collapse fiasco.
“The only small bit of good news in the Budget was the extension of the mortgage relief to 2017,” Deputy Ring said. “This will give those who purchased their homes at the height of the market some bit of financial ease.
“This is something I had sought for young couples for a long time. People paying their mortgage are under a tremendous amount of pressure and I welcome this announcement, and I also hope that interest rates will remain as they are for the next few years to give people a chance with their mortgages,” concluded Dep Ring.
