For the fourth year running, Midwest Radio’s popular Tommy Marren Christmas Show will broadcast live from the foyer of Mayo General Hospital on Wednesday December 23 between 9am and 11am.
Several choirs, such as the Westport Choral Choir, St Angela's National School and Derrywash National School, will sing hymns and Christmas carols, and the Kilkenny Brothers will entertain the crowd with some folk and traditional music.
Kevin Cooney, head chef at the hospital, will give some recipe tips for Christmas dinner, and dietician Marie Fraser will offer advice on how to have a healthy and enjoyable festive period.
Staff from Mayo General Hospital and the HSE’s Community Care and Mental Health Services, based at nearby St Mary’s Hospital, will also drop in to see Tommy. The hospital chaplain, Fr Pat Burke, will deliver a Christmas blessing to Midwest Radio's listeners, and hospital staff originally from other countries will talk to Tommy about how Christmas is celebrated in their homelands.
Of course, one of the most important guests on the day will be Santa Claus, who'll give out sweets and goodies to children and adults!
So, if you have your Christmas shopping done go along to MGH on December 23 to enjoy the wonderful seasonal atmosphere and be part of the show.
