Baxter Healthcare invests €5.5 million in green technology

Baxter Healthcare is leading the way in the development of green technology with a €5.5 million investment to be targeted at the installation and commission of a 3MW combined heat and power plant at its Castlebar facility.

Local TD Beverley Flynn welcomed the news that the plant will be developed with support of the Government through IDA Ireland over the next two years. “The move will help the company to reduce its energy costs and it will also contribute greatly to the reduction of carbon emissions,” Deputy Flynn said.

“The area of climate change is very much in the news this week with the climate conference taking place in Copenhagen. It is a worldwide issue that we must work on together and I am delighted to see Baxter leading the way here in County Mayo.”
