Gardaí in Foxford are appealing for information from the public following an accident which claimed the life of a young man on Monday morning.
The crash, which occurred at Belgarrow, Foxford, shortly after 1am, claimed the life of 26-year-old Martin Boyle, who was the sole occupant of a car which crashed into a concrete post less than one kilometres from his home.
The emergency services were alerted to the accident by a passing motorist but Mr Boyle was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident and his body was removed to Mayo General Hospital where a post mortem was carried out. He was the son of Ollie and Jean Boyle, Swinford Road, Foxford. His mother works in the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough and a Christmas event planned for this weekend in the museum has been called off as a mark of respect.
Mr Boyle’s funeral took place yesterday, Thursday, December 10 in St Michael’s Church, Foxford, and he was buried in Craggagh Cemetery afterwards.
